After ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, where Shah Rukh Khan played a cameo with Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya, the rumors were rife that Karan Johar might cast the two stars together in his new venture.
SRK being Karan’s close friend has always been the marquee mascot in each of the filmmaker’s directorial ventures barring his latest, Student Of The Year, that was incidentally co-produced by the superstar. So, when Karan returns with an intense love story next, it is expected that Shah Rukh will play a central role.
While on Ranbir, Karan not so long ago said he was keen to direct the rising superstar who has earlier starred in his production, Wake Up Sid. Ranbir is also the hero of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which is also being produced by Karan’s Dharma Production.
The script in question, as reported earlier in the media, was the dream of Karan’s late film producer-father, Yash Johar. Johar senior had been researching for the script in his last days and had gone to Lahore as part of his research.
But his demise in 2004 had put the project on the backburner and Karan got busy with other projects.
A close source revealed that –
“He decided he wanted to bring the two together not only because it made casting sense—it did, and how! But also, because he has an idea for a script, where SRK and RK fit in perfectly.”
The yet-untitled film is expected to go on floors in November next year by which time Karan will have finalised his heroines and the remaining cast and crew. While the buzz suggests that SRK has already given his nod for the project, Ranbir is yet to take a decision.
